I created this painting as a rendition of the famous painting “Girl with a Pearl Earring”. This painting is about addressing the lack of Black representation in the world of fine art. I wanted it to be a conversation starter about not only lack of diversity, and how the world of art can be very non-inclusive, but more about, how we can stop trying to get a seat at the table, and create the table for ourselves.
