The Serpent and the Dove Original Painting
Acrylic Paint and Resin on Canvas
30 x 24
Lakota Fae, 2018
This painting represents my struggle to embody and personify the simplified biblical quote that says “I am in this world, but not of it”. The serpent originally represented the world, and the woman is me.
In the world, me under attack by it.
I was listening to a podcast and the pastor spoke about the serpent and the dove and how God says to be as wise as serpents and as harmless as doves. That gave me that “AHA!” moment of how to finish this painting- and also how to navigate my thoughts and feelings of what it means to be ‘in this world, but not of it’.
Feeling split between two worlds. Having to figure out how to survive in a world that is not of your spirit.
The dove on my shoulder is my ever present reminder to stay soft, to keep my mind aligned with Gods, and to always seek peace.
